Adversity is a word that Artist Darius Lopez, “Lopez” is all too familiar with. From a young age, he had to grow up fast while at the same time trying to find the right path in his life without much guidance. He lost his mom at a young age to sickle cell anemia and was battling a few family issues. During this difficult period of his life he was kicked out of his house and out of college. Lopez forged a path to make a better life by enlisting in the army and fighting overseas. His military career was short lived by using marijuana as a method of release, going against the rules of the army.
Back in 2013, Lopez collaborated with now manager Justin Johnson to work together to culminate a powerful message in the music, not to solely create a song, but to create better opportunities for their families and loved ones around them. This creative process lead to the formation of the label, “DreamisGrind.”
Lopez is known locally in Denver, CO for his music. He has spent countless hours with his team in various studios across the metro area, perfecting and mastering his songs. Recently, he has worked with Miami Artist Rico Bmore and Videographer David Liz on music video for his new single “Found One,” now available to the public. “My story isn’t too different from everybody else’s, but it’s the way I tell it that will make you feel it.” Lopez has carried his pain and struggle far too long and is determined to make a name for his future, marked by his past.
